Yoga offers a wealth of benefits, not just for our physical health. Yoga helps to strengthen our bodies, calm our minds and a regular practice can bring a sense of wholeness and integration to our everyday life. Through the practice of yoga, breath awareness and mindful meditation we can learn to be in the present moment and to keep our consciousness alive to the present reality. Living in the Now, rather than thoughts of the past or worrying about the future, brings us true liberation and a sense of deep peace.

Increasingly clinical evidence is proving what the sages of this ancient philosophy knew thousands of years ago - that yoga and mindfulness have the transformative power to heal and restore us.

Oona Hawley is from an Anglo-Indian family and has practised yoga for 30 years. She has worked in psychology, healthcare research and patient care development for over ten years. Passionate about the restorative and positive change that yoga can bring at any age and any ability, she teaches classes in North Devon and is the founder of the North Devon Yoga yoga school.
